Established in 1897, the school is portion of a worldwide network of Loreto schools lower the concern of the Loreto Sisters (IBM), and is one of seven Loreto schools in Australia. Loreto Normanhurst is a school we are all noticeably elated to belong. The School Council is responsible for good governance to receive store for the continuing sustainability of Loreto Normanhurst. The School Council supports the Principal who manages the operations of the school. The school’s strategic direction and overall operations are managed by the Principal and the Leadership Team. This dynamic team has responsibility for every aspect of the school. Along with the Principal, the school’s Leadership Team has responsibility for the school’s strategic direction as healthy as its overall operations. Our mission translates our vision as a Loreto school. Over the course of 2015 an extensive consultation program was undertaken with staff, students, parents and ex students to comprehend where Loreto Normanhurst is strategically positioned, now and for the future. The strategic planning process commenced with a weekend workshop with participation from the School Leadership and Deans Teams, School Council and other community members. As a school community, we continue committed to delivering our mission in the spirit of Mary Ward. It is segment of a worldwide tradition of over four hundred years of educating young women. Loreto Normanhurst is an independent Catholic day and boarding school for girls and expects all staff to actively promote the Catholic, and specifically Loreto, ethos of the School. Loreto Normanhurst is a vibrant school which strives to face the needs of the young women in its concern through the Loreto Normanhurst Student Growth Model (LNSGM), a unique method of education. The staff at Loreto Normanhurst are a group of innovative people with vision, energy and good qualifications and experience for the roles they hold. The staff is a group of dynamic individuals with vision, energy, appropriate qualifications and experience. Applications for employment at Loreto Normanhurst should include: Opportunities are available to all staff members and includes: Every staff member is matched with a mentor at the commencement of their employment. Four Staff Days are held during the school year. In addition to these days, teaching and boarding staff undertake two faculty members days in non term time. This network supports staff fresh to leadership. Since 200, five teaching staff members have been given 0.2 FTC free for one year to work on the incorporation of learning theory, information literacy and ACT skills into their teaching practice. These Networks promote teachers undertaking these accreditation processes.

Loreto Normanhurst has been providing a lofty quality education for girls since 1897, which has included both Primary and Lesser education as healthy as a Boarding facility for girls from rural areas. The school was not established and since this time, Loreto Normanhurst has missed having a Primary School as portion of its community. It has long been our hope at Loreto Normanhurst to reopen the primary school. We see the joy that other schools take in having younger, primary students, and receive many inquiries from families who are seeking a Loreto education for their primary school aged children. There are many opportunities on present at our school, and we look forward to sharing these more widely with the community, Ms Barbara Watkins, Principal.

Services

At Loreto Normanhurst, there is a potent belief in the capacity and responsibility of our young women to contribute significantly to society. The community service program is introduced to the students in Year 9 with their beginning experience being on the Far North Queensland Experience. This work must be unpaid and the hours will be undertaken in the student’s own time. The emphasis of Community Service is on personal interaction and service.
